Panthers Pull Away from Barstow for 7-3 Win
Chaffey College baseball broke open a close game in the middle innings to defeat Barstow 7-3 on April 16.
The Panthers struck first in the second inning when Grant Price drove in Mason Danison with an RBI single.
After briefly falling behind, Chaffey responded in the fourth inning to regain control. Price delivered again with a RBI double, and Kristian Gonzalez followed with a sacrifice RBI to pull the team ahead 3-2.
Chaffey extended its lead in the fifth and sixth innings behind run-scoring hits from Hayden Hull and Dylan Buzard.
The Panthers added two more runs in the eighth, capitalizing on a defensive miscue and a wild pitch to make it 7-3.
Andrew Cuellar led the offense with a 3-for-4 performance and three runs scored. Price drove in three runs on two hits, while Hull added two hits and an RBI. Danison also scored twice as part of the overall effort.
Chaffey’s ability to respond in key moments proved to be the difference as they pulled away to secure the win.
