Panthers Open Season with 3-1 Victory over the Marauders

The Chaffey College men's soccer team kicked off the 2025 season with a strong performance, defeating Antelope Valley College 3-1 at home. The Panthers controlled the tempo throughout, netting goals in both halves while limiting the Marauders to just one shot on target.

Forward Diego Garcia ignited the attack just before halftime, finishing a pass from Joseph Trejo in the 45th minute to give Chaffey a 1-0 lead at the break. The Panthers extended their advantage midway through the second half when Ernesto De Lara converted in the 71st minute off a setup from Garcia.

The Marauders broke through with an unassisted goal in the 76th minute, but the Panthers quickly answered. Less than three minutes later, Adrien Vazquez buried a shot from close range, assisted by Julio Martinez, to seal the 3-1 result.

Goalkeeper Christian Hernandez provided a steady presence in goal, recording three saves in 90 minutes of action. The Panthers' defense was steady, holding Antelope Valley College without a single shot in the run of play and shutting down opportunities in the midfield. The win marks a confident start to the season as the Panthers look to build momentum early in the season.

The Panthers will host the Santa Ana College Dons on Friday, August 29, with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m.
