Julio Martinez Named IEAC Athlete of the Week

Chaffey College freshman Julio Martinez has been named the Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) Athlete of the Week for men's soccer for the second time this season following a standout week from Oct. 6-11.

As a forward, Martinez delivered an exceptional offensive performance across two matches, leading the Panthers to back-to-back conference victories. Against Cerro Coso College on Oct. 7, Martinez netted four goals and added two assists to fuel Chaffey's commanding win. His finishing efficiency and ability to create space in the final third set the tone early, as he was directly involved in six of the team's goals.

He carried that momentum into Chaffey's 8-0 victory over Victor Valley College on Oct. 10, when he scored twice and assisted once more to complete a remarkable week. Martinez converted in the 35th and 49th minutes, finishing setups from Diego Garcia and Ernesto De Lara, to extend the Panthers' lead. His playmaking vision also helped facilitate an early goal for Garcia, who scored off Martinez's assist in the 23rd minute.

Martinez totaled six goals and four assists, showcasing his consistency and leadership in the attacking third as Chaffey remained unbeaten in conference play.

Head Coach Christopher Araya highlighted his contributions, telling the IEAC, "Martinez had an outstanding week, recording six goals and four assists in just two games for the Panthers. He has been impactful both on and off the field. He has had a tendency to create chances for the team and finishing opportunities against the defense."
