Consistent Pace Guides Panthers to 8th at Mt. SAC Invitational
The Chaffey College men's and women's cross country programs competed at the 2025 Mt. SAC Invitational on Friday morning at Hilmer Lodge Stadium, facing a strong regional field across the four-mile and 5,000-meter courses.
On the men's side, the Panthers placed eighth overall in the team standings, finishing ahead of Oxnard and Crafton Hills. Adam Espinoza once again paced Chaffey with a time of 24:00.8, continuing his consistent season as the Panthers' top finisher. Rohan Weerasekera followed close behind in 24:44.2, with Hugo Meneses clocking 24:27.0 for Chaffey's third scoring position. Airic Medina contributed a 25:50.3 effort, while the team's depth rounded out the scoring against several of the state's top programs.
The women's program was represented by freshman Alexis Montano, who completed the challenging 5,000-meter course in 25:53.9. Montano maintained steady pacing throughout the race, gaining experience in one of California's largest community college meets and finishing ahead of several runners from conference opponents.
Both teams will now turn their attention to the Pacific Coast Athletic Conference and Inland Empire Athletic Conference Championship, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 24, at Harry Griffen Park in La Mesa. The women's race is scheduled to start at 10 a.m., and the men's race is scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
