Dual-Sport Panther, Team Captain, and Valedictorian Heads to UC Merced
Danielle Singley arrived at Chaffey College ready to compete. Two years later, she’s leaving having done far more than that. She’s dominated.
The dual-sport standout played two full seasons each in women’s basketball and softball, and is graduating as a class valedictorian with two associate degrees.
As a freshman in 2024-25, Singley earned 2nd Team All-IEAC Conference honors before returning in 2025-26 to claim 1st Team All-Conference recognition. She finished her Chaffey basketball career with 762 points, including a game-winning overtime shot on Nov. 19, 2025, that pushed her past the 500-point milestone.
Between basketball seasons, she traded her sneakers for cleats as a Chaffey softball outfielder, contributing to a team that claimed the Inland Empire Athletic Conference championship in the 2025-26 season.
Singley describes the experience of competing in both programs less as a challenge and more as a calling.
“It has been a true blessing to be able to compete in both basketball and softball at Chaffey,” she said. “Being a part of something bigger than myself is always a goal and a pride I carry.”
In both basketball seasons, Singley was selected as team captain through a unanimous peer vote. She says it’s not her game highlights, but how she shows up for others that earned her teammates’ respect.
“Being a team captain has taught me the best lesson of all, being able to listen,” Singley said. “So much power can come from just listening to others, their stories, jokes, concerns, comments, advice. I learned so much about the people I’m constantly surrounded by just by listening.”
Off the court and field, Singley pursued her academics with the same focus, graduating May 21 with an Associate of Arts in Psychology and an Associate of Arts in Sociology as one of 11 Chaffey College valedictorians.
Her next chapter takes her to UC Merced, where she will continue her basketball career while working toward her goal of becoming a speech-language pathologist.
