Chaffey splits non-conference doubleheader with Imperial Valley College
The Chaffey Panthers dropped game one 11-7 but came back and run-ruled Imperial Valley 9-1 in game two of the non-conference doubleheader.
In the first game, Chaffey’s sophomore Lauren Chappell had a double, a home run and five RBI but was the lone bright spot.
Game two saw renewed energy from the Panthers, who got contributions all through the lineup, as eight athletes picked up at least one hit.
Sophomore Rosyvette Garcia led the way, going 3 for 3 at the plate while Chappell smashed a grand slam home run, her 3rd of the season.
Chappell’s home run came in an 8-run 4th for Chaffey. Sophomore Fernanda Cano followed that with a solo shot and freshman Mia Britt followed up with a home run of her own, marking the first time in memory that the Panthers have hit back-to-back-to-back home runs.
Britt also picked up the win in the circle, throwing a complete-game four-hitter while striking out seven.
