Chaffey College's women's soccer team kicked off the 2024 season on a high note, securing a win over the San Joaquin Delta Mustangs (Stockton, CA). The 2-0 win sets the tone for another championship season.
Under the leadership of new head coach Daniel Fox, the Panthers looked sharp and delivered a strong performance on both ends of the pitch against the Mustangs. The Panthers dominated possession and set the pace early on. The breakthrough came in the 28th minute when sophomore Gisele Spiers (Vanessa Iniguez assist) scored the first goal of the match. Gisele Spiers (Hannah Gonzales assist) struck again in the 73rd minute and doubled Chaffey's lead.
Defensively, the Panthers defense were rock solid and did not allow the San Joaquin Delta Mustangs from registering a goal. Keeper Leila Toki made three clutch saves, ensuring a clean sheet for the team.
The 2-0 win not only starts the season on a high note but also marks a successful debut for Daniel Fox as head coach.
The Panthers will be back in action on Sunday, August 25, against Southern Nevada at Mt. San Antonio College.
