The Chaffey College women's soccer team opened the 2025 season with an impressive second-half performance, pulling away for a 4-1 victory over Antelope Valley College. Four different Panthers found the back of the net as Chaffey turned a scoreless first half into a decisive win.
Chaffey broke through just after halftime when Alexa Pereida scored in the 46th minute on a setup from Gionna Diez. Only three minutes later, Diez doubled the advantage with a goal of her own, assisted by Alyssa Medina, to make it 2-0.
The Marauders cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 58th minute, but the Panthers responded immediately. Diez struck again in the 61st minute with help from Jaelyn Hamlett, restoring the two-goal cushion. The Panthers sealed the win in the 73rd minute when Geneve Ashton finished a pass from Leilani Garache, capping a four-goal outburst in less than 30 minutes.
Goalkeeper Isabella Ortiz recorded one save in 90 minutes, backstopping a defense that held the Marauders to just two shots on goal. Chaffey's depth and quick-strike ability proved decisive as the Panthers controlled the second half. The win sets the tone for another dominating season.
The Panthers will travel to face Long Beach City College on Tuesday, September 2, with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m.
