The Chaffey College women's soccer team put together its most complete performance of the season, earning a decisive 3-0 victory over Santa Monica College on Friday. With goals in both halves and a dominant defensive showing, the Panthers secured their third win of the year.
Chaffey wasted no time taking control of the Corsairs, as Karina Parchment opened the scoring in the sixth minute, finishing a pass from Alexa Pereida to give the Panthers the early lead. After maintaining steady possession and limiting Santa Monica's opportunities, Chaffey doubled its advantage midway through the second half when Pereida found the back of the net in the 71st minute.
The Panthers sealed the result in the 88th minute as Pereida struck again, this time off a setup from Parchment, completing a strong afternoon for the duo. Pereida finished with two goals and an assist, while Parchment added a goal and an assist of her own to drive the Panthers' attack.
Chaffey's defense was equally impressive and kept Santa Monica from generating any real threats. Goalkeeper Isabella Ortiz earned the clean sheet and recorded her third shutout of the season.
The Panthers will rest up and will host Pasadena City College on Friday, September 19, with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
