The Chaffey College women's soccer team lost to Pasadena City College 4-1 on Friday afternoon at home. The Panthers battled throughout the match but could not recover from an early deficit.
The Lancers opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a breakaway finish, then quickly doubled their lead two minutes later with a header from a corner kick. Pasadena added a third goal in the 40th minute on a cross-and-finish combination to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Chaffey regrouped after the break and pressed higher up the pitch, but the Lancers extended their lead to 4-0 in the 60th minute. The Panthers kept pressing, finding a breakthrough in the 80th minute when Karina Parchment capitalized on an opportunity from Alexa Pereida and buried her chance to put Chaffey on the board.
The Panthers generated five shots in the match, with Parchment's late strike capping the attack. Chaffey worked to disrupt Pasadena's rhythm after halftime and limited the Lancers to just two shots in the second half.
The Panthers will now turn their attention to their first Inland Empire Athletic Conference match of the season, hosting Norco College on Tuesday, September 23, at 4 p.m.
