The Chaffey College women's soccer team built an early lead and held strong defensively to earn a 2-1 win over Mt. San Jacinto College on Friday afternoon. With goals in the opening 15 minutes and a steady presence in goal, the Panthers secured an important conference victory.
Chaffey wasted little time getting on the board, as Gionna Diez found the back of the net in the fifth minute to give the Panthers the early advantage. Just eight minutes later, Karina Parchment doubled the lead, finishing a setup from Alexa Pereida to make it 2-0.
Tegan Garcia, Emma Guadron, Sofia Guerrero, and Chloe Rodriguez were impressive defensively and held the Eagles from finding the back of the net until the 68th minute. Goalkeeper Isabella Ortiz recorded seven saves to preserve the result.
The Panthers will return home on Tuesday, September 30, to host San Bernardino Valley College at 2 p.m.
