The Chaffey College women's soccer team earned its second straight conference win on Tuesday afternoon, defeating San Bernardino Valley College 2-0 at home. The Panthers controlled play throughout the first half, striking twice before the break and holding firm defensively to post their third consecutive win.
Chaffey broke through in the 28th minute when Karina Parchment capitalized on a loose ball and buried her chance unassisted to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. Nine minutes later, Parchment turned playmaker and delivered a perfect setup for Gionna Diez in the 37th minute to double the advantage.
Goalkeeper Isabella Ortiz led the defense that kept the Wolverines without a single shot on goal, securing the clean sheet and recording her fifth shutout of the season. Defenders Sofia Guerrero, Emma Guadron, Tegan Garcia, and Chloe Rodriguez maintained their shape and composure to preserve the result.
With the win, the Panthers advanced to 3-0 in the Inland Empire Athletic Conference. Chaffey will next travel to Mt. San Antonio College on Friday, October 3, for a non-conference matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
