Chaffey Falls to Mt. SAC in Close Match

The Chaffey College women's soccer team dropped a close non-conference match on Friday afternoon, falling 1-0 to Mt. San Antonio College. Despite the narrow defeat, the Panthers battled throughout the 90 minutes and showed defensive organization against one of the region's top teams.

Both sides traded possession in a scoreless first half, with the Panthers' back line, Sofia Guerrero, Emma Guadron, Tegan Garcia, and Chloe Rodriguez, limiting Mt. SAC's looks in the attacking third. Goalkeeper Isabella Ortiz denied several early threats to keep the match level through halftime.

The match remained tightly contested until the 85^th minute, when Mt. SAC converted off a pass to break the deadlock. Chaffey pressed forward in the final moments but was unable to find the equalizer before the final whistle.

Ortiz finished with one save while facing a disciplined Mountie attack, and the Panthers' defensive shape kept the match within reach throughout.

The Panthers will regroup and travel for their next Inland Empire Athletic Conference to College of the Desert on Friday, October 10, for a 3 p.m. kickoff.
