The Chaffey College women's soccer team had a dominant second-half surge to earn a 3-1 win over College of the Desert on Friday afternoon. The Panthers overcame an early deficit with three unanswered goals to secure their fourth straight Inland Empire Athletic Conference win.
Desert opened the scoring in the ninth minute, but Chaffey regrouped and controlled possession for much of the match. The Panthers broke through in the 69th minute when Alexa Pereida scored unassisted to tie the match 1-1. Eight minutes later, Pereida assisted Karina Parchment for the go-ahead goal in the 77th minute.
Chaffey sealed the result in the 87th minute when Gionna Diez finished off a cross from Chloe Rodriguez, extending the Panthers' lead to 3-1.
Goalkeeper Isabella Ortiz led the defensive effort to preserve the win, backed by strong performances from defenders Sofia Guerrero, Emma Guadron, Tegan Garcia, and Rodriguez, who limited the Roadrunners to minimal scoring chances throughout the match.
Chaffey improves to 4-0 and continues its unbeaten streak in Inland Empire Athletic Conference competition. The Panthers will return home on Tuesday, October 14, to host Victor Valley College at 2 p.m.
