Chaffey Battles to Scoreless Draw Against MiraCosta, Set Sights on 3C2A SoCal Regionals
The Chaffey College women's soccer team closed out the regular season with a hard-fought 0–0 draw against MiraCosta College on Friday evening. The Panthers maintained composure and defensive discipline throughout the match, earning valuable momentum heading into postseason play.
Chaffey's line, led by Sofia Guerrero, Chloe Rodriguez, Tavajia Richardson, and Leilani Garache, held firm against the Spartans' pressure. Midfielders Alexa Pereida and Natalia Gonzalez worked tirelessly to disrupt MiraCosta's rhythm, while forwards Karina Parchment, Geneve Ashton, and Gionna Diez searched for opportunities to break through in the attacking third.
Goalkeeper Isabella Ortiz remained steady in the net, organizing the defense and helping the Panthers manage the match's tempo in what became a defensive showcase for both sides. MiraCosta recorded 12 total shots, including three on frame, while Chaffey's defensive unit prevented any clear scoring chances from developing.
Despite the draw, the Panthers continued to demonstrate the grit and structure that carried them through the Inland Empire Athletic Conference matches.
Chaffey now turns its focus to the 3C2A SoCal Regionals, where the Panthers have earned the No. 9 seed and the opportunity to host a first-round matchup. They will face familiar Inland Empire Athletic Conference opponent College of the Desert, No. 24 seed, on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 11 a.m.
