Panthers Finish 2025 Season with Conference Title and Postseason Advancement
The Chaffey College women's soccer team showcased resilience and consistent progress throughout the 2025 campaign, capturing the Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) championship for the seventh consecutive season and advancing to the second round of the 3C3A SoCal Regionals. The Panthers finished the season 9-6-5 overall and 6-2-2 in conference play, finding success through balanced scoring, disciplined defending, and an increasingly cohesive midfield structure.
Chaffey's forwards delivered steady production across the season, totaling 34 goals and 24 assists across 20 matches. Sophomore Gionna Diez led the charge with 10 goals and three assists, emerging as one of the most reliable finishers in the final third. Freshman Karina Parchment added another major scoring threat, matching Diez with 10 goals while contributing six assists. Both Diez and Parchment earned IEAC Athlete of the Week accolades during the season, highlighting their impact at the top of the formation.
The midfield proved equally influential. Sophomore Alexa Pereida delivered one of the strongest all-around campaigns on the team, finishing with nine goals, six assists, and 24 points, while controlling possession and driving Chaffey's attacking buildup. Her standout performances earned her recognition as the IEAC Player of the Week from Sept. 29-Oct. 4. Sophomore Natalia Gonzalez added one goal and one assist, providing composure in deeper midfield roles, while freshman Emelyn Montes-Bueso contributed another goal from the midfield rotation.
Chaffey's defensive unit demonstrated stability and growth throughout the season. Sophomore Chloe Rodriguez led the back line and posted five assists from her defensive role, showing vision and precision in her distribution out of the back. Fellow defenders Sofia Guerrero (two goals), Emma Guadron (one assist), Tegan Garcia (one assist), and Leilani Garache (one assist) were instrumental in limiting opposing chances and maintaining a strong defensive shape throughout the season. Freshman Tavajia Richardson also contributed valuable minutes, reinforcing the team's reliability along back line.
In goal, sophomore Isabella Ortiz started all 20 matches, serving as the foundation of Chaffey's defensive structure. Her consistency in managing the back line, controlling the box, and handling high-pressure moments helped steady the Panthers in tight matches and postseason play. Ortiz recorded 35 saves, posted a .761 save percentage, allowed just 11 goals across 13 recorded stat matches, and finished the season with eight shutouts, reinforcing her role as one of the IEAC's most reliable goalkeepers.
Chaffey continued to refine its spacing, tempo control, and ability to generate chances through combination play. Their balanced scoring, disciplined defensive rotations, and continued growth across the midfield kept them competitive against several top regional opponents and played a key role in their postseason advancement.
With much of the roster set to return, including major contributors in the attack, midfield, and back line, the Panthers will carry a renewed competitive drive into the 2026 season. The foundation established, built on balanced scoring, a strengthened defensive structure, and impactful young talent, positions Chaffey to remain standing among the IEAC's top programs and reestablish themselves in postseason contention.
