Bio
Christopher Peterson joins Chaffey College as the head coach of the women's volleyball team for his first season, bringing over 15 years of coaching experience at both the club and high school levels. Known for his dedication to player development and his strategic approach to the game, Chris is poised to make a significant impact on the Panthers' volleyball program.
Before arriving at Chaffey, Chris made his mark as the Boys Director and a National-level coach at Forza1 North Volleyball Club, where he’s been coaching since 2021. He led several age-group teams to competitive success there, and he’s no stranger to club volleyball, having also coached at 951 Elite Volleyball Club as an Assistant College Recruiting Director and at Club West Volleyball, focusing on developing young talent and helping players get recruited for college. Chris's teams consistently placed among the top at the USAV Junior Nationals, earning multiple medals.
He also brings experience from the college game, having worked as an assistant coach and skills technician for the Claremont/Mudd/Scripps women's volleyball team, where he played a key role in the development of six players who earned All-Conference honors in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). On the high school front, Chris successfully led the varsity teams at San Dimas High School and Diamond Ranch High School, capturing three consecutive Valle Vista League titles.
As an athlete, Chris shined at the University of La Verne, where he was not only a two-time NCAA Division III National Champion but also a co-captain of the team. He earned spots on the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team in both 1998 and 1999 and still holds the university's career records for kills, digs, and aces.
Chris holds a diverse academic background with a Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Communications from the University of La Verne and a Bachelor of Science in Botany and Soil Microbiology from Humboldt State University. Outside of volleyball, he has a green thumb as an organic farmer and is a certified California Master Gardener. He runs his own organic farm and natural skincare company. Beyond his love for the sport, Chris is passionate about nature, having spent over 15 years as a wilderness guide, mountaineer, and environmental educator.
Chris enjoys spending time outdoors and sharing his love of nature and sports with his family. The highlight of his life is his young son, Clayton, of whom he is a super proud dad.
