Strong Strides Carry Panthers to 12th Place
The Chaffey College men's and women's cross country programs competed at the 2025 Golden West Central Park Classic on Friday morning.
Going against 21 teams, the men's cross country program completed the four-mile course and finished 12th overall in the team standings with 343 points. Adam Espinoza paced the Panthers with a 22:46.6 finish, followed closely by Rohan Weerasekera at 22:53.9. Hugo Meneses added a 23:27.4 effort, with Airic Medina clocking 23:45.7. Anthony Castro finished in 29:37.4, while Jerry Parada posted 29:36:1 and Moises Jarquin crossed at 34:16.3.
The Panthers' depth across their top four runners kept them ahead of Oxnard, Saddleback, and Southwestern in the standings. Cuyamaca placed first overall with 44 points, followed by Riverside City (48) and Cerritos (61).
The women's cross country program was represented by freshman Alexis Montano, who clocked 25:57.4 over the 5,000-meter course while gaining valuable experience against a competitive regional field.
The Panthers will next compete at the Mt. SAC Invitational on Friday, October 17. The women's race is scheduled to start at 10 a.m., followed by the men's race at 10:45 a.m.
