Alexis Montano Named IEAC Athlete of the Week
Chaffey College freshman Alexis Montano has been named the Inland Empire Athletic Conference (IEAC) Athlete of the Week for women's cross country for the week of Oct. 20–25, recognizing her outstanding performance at the 2025 IEAC Championships.
Montano placed 11th overall at the IEAC Championships and closing her season on a high note with one of her best times of the year. Competing in the 5,000-meter race at Harry Griffen Park on Oct. 24, she clocked a season-best 23:50, trimming more than two minutes off her previous mark and exemplifying her steady progress throughout the season. Montano was recently selected for the IEAC Women's Cross Country All-Conference Second Team.
Head Coach Edgar Guadalupe praised Alexis's resilience and focus throughout the season, noting the determination behind her late-season breakthrough. "Alexis's comeback this season showed what true perseverance looks like. She never stopped believing in the process, and it paid off when it mattered most."
